Mr. Mahmud B. Tukur is an Award-Winning Global Business Leader, Investor and Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) with 30 years of experience across the energy, maritime, infrastructure and technology sectors. As the Founder and CEO of Ashgrove Group, Mr. Tukur leverages his expertise to drive strategic growth and transformation within diverse industrial and economic sectors. His career highlights include becoming the Youngest CEO of a Publicly Listed Company in Nigeria at the age of 37 when he was appointed to lead Eterna Plc.
During his tenure as Managing Director/CEO at Eterna Plc, an indigenous downstream oil company listed on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), he spearheaded a remarkable transformation of the company’s fortunes, twice earning him recognition as one of the top 25 CEOs of publicly listed companies in Nigeria, in addition to being named Downstream CEO of the Year.
He began his career in upstream oil services with Sirpi-Alusteel Construction and Inter-Oil Services, working on major projects in the Niger Delta and later became MD/CEO of Daddo Maritime Services Limited. As co-founder and pioneer MD of IGPES Limited, he positioned the company as a dynamic local content partner, introducing leased gas compression solutions in Nigeria with Hanover Compressor Plc (now Exterran Corporation) and innovative engineering design services with IMPaC Offshore Engineering GmbH. His current leadership roles include Chairing the Boards of ECM Terminals Limited (concessionaire of Calabar Free Port) and Shefa Engineering Limited, in addition to being the 2nd Vice-Chairman of the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN). He is a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of Providus Bank Limited, Abumet Nigeria Ltd (a subsidiary of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc) and Fuelmetrics Limited.
He had previously served as an INED on the Boards of Bourbon Offshore Plc (Euronext, Paris) from 2012- 2020 and Polysmart Group from 2019 – 2024.
His global experience in corporate governance, risk management, strategy, and performance management makes him a transformative leader. Mr. Tukur collaborates with C-Suite executives to drive positive organizational changes, making him a valuable Board member.
Fluent in several languages, including French, he is known for building mutually beneficial relationships and is passionate about mentoring young professionals.
Mr. Tukur holds a Joint Honours degree in Accounting & Management from the Business School of the University of Wales College, Cardiff. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Directors (IoD), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Shipping (Nigeria), and a member of several chambers of commerce in Nigeria. He is a recipient of a National Honour, Officer of the Order of the Mono (OOM), from the Republic of Togo.
