Elder U. K. Eke MFR earned a first degree in Political Science from University of Lagos and has a Masters’ Degree in Projects Management Technology awarded by Federal University of Technology Owerri. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant while training at Deloitte, a global Audit firm ahead of starting his Banking career which spanned 30 years.
He was Executive Director in Two (2) Banks before his appointment as Group Managing Director of First Bank Holdings Plc, a position he held for 6 years before retiring from Banking in 2021. His 40 years’ experience spans Auditing, Taxation, Consulting, Business Assurance, Strategy, Process re-engineering, Finance and Capital Market. He has also served on the Boards of several companies in Nigeria and overseas.
Currently, he is the Executive Chairman of Fairchild Group and sits on the Board of Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) as an Independent Non-Executive Director. He is a Council member of the Chartered Institute of Directors of Nigeria in addition to holding the position of Chairman, Board of Governors of the Institute of Directors Centre for Corporate Governance.
He is a Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; Fellow, Chartered Institute of Bankers; Fellow, Chartered Institute of Directors; and Fellow Institute of Management Consultants.
He holds the National Honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR and is a recipient of the Zik Prize in Professional Leadership. He is a Rotarian and a member of the prestigious Arch Klump Society (AKS) of Rotary International. He is happily married with children.
